Gooday fellow bloggers. Its me, B-sag, with dr. Shananenae. In our blog we would like to inform you with as much as we know about the Polar Tundra. From the vast mountains, to the deep sea we will teach you everything you need to know.

The Alaskan Tundra

As you already know, the tundras climate is cold. It gets about 100mm of snow per year. In the summer, days our long which leads to 24 hours of photosynthesis daily. 100 of plants grow everyday.

This video shows what these 1 ton bears can do. Polar bears hunt mostly seals. They live in dens they create and live in through the winter. They can grow to about 9 feet.

Mid - level consumer in the Tundra; Arctic Fox

 

This little guy is called an arctic fox. He eats numerous of small animals. Mostly a variety of bird eggs. They can grow as big as 3 feet and 9 pounds. HOW CUTE

Producers

 

This algae looking plant is called calliergon giganteum. Or mostly commonly called, green moss. You can find the Green Moss at the bottom of any lake bottom in the tundra. They most commonly reproduce by releasing spores.

The Pasque Flower

 

The Pasque Flower is another producer in the Tundra. This flower rises to its peak at about 8 inches and grows 5-8 pedals. This plant only grows on slopes facing the south.

What you could find in the Tunrda

These yellow Tundra flowers are found all along the permafrosted
desert and is site to see. This flowers growing season lasts for 180
days.

What is the Polar Tundra ecosystem like?

Polar Tundra's ecosystem is unique. To begin, the ground is covered in permafrost. This is ground the is always frozen from the freezing weather. There is no tree life on them and they are mostly on top of mountains. Some organsims that live in these areas are polar bears, artic foxes, caribou, and grey foxes.

What is an ecosystem?

An ecosystem is an area with certain species of abiotic and biotic organisms. A good examle of an ecosystem is the woods near a hiking trail. Also, many of us have ecosystems in our backyard.
